    Hello Becky,
Before anything else, I should probably introduce myself. I'm 2LT Kevin Sandell, the lieutenant who has received your amazing letters and care package in Afghanistan just a few days. It's been busy here, but I wanted to make sure to offer my sincerest thanks to your organization for the incredible show of support you've offered through these letters and packages. Please keep them coming!

When my platoon sergeant and I applied for these care packages and letters for our Soldiers, little did we realize the end result of meeting so many great military supporters back home. The response has been incredible! The letters and care package we have received were greatly appreciated, and made for some big smiles on my Soldiers' faces.

If your son, Jesse, were still alive, I'd thank him for doing his part to protect our country. Your son is a hero just because he did what many fellow Americans don't do: serve our country. He died knowing that he made his contribution to keeping our Stars and Stripes flying. I thank him for serving alongside us, and helping to protect our incredible nation. You should be comforted in knowing that he's smiling down on you from Heaven.

It's almost surreal receiving packages and letters, because while I was still in college, my dad and I got together about five care packages to send to "Any Soldier" in Iraq. Now I'm the one receiving care packages and letters from supporters back home, and it's weird to think about! The letters and packages your organization has sent were posted in our break room, and they've been read by everyone, and pretty much all that's left of the food is crumbs. :)

Your organization is one to be commended, and it looks like you've had your fair share already. Organizations that go out of their way to support those service members around the world are my best friends over here. I wish there were more people like you and your family, Becky, that would demonstrate their support. Thank you for continuing the mission that you started almost seven years ago. Its impact has been felt by hundreds of military men and women.

You'd probably like to know a little more about me. I'm a 23-year-old Second Lieutenant with the Army's 101st Airborne Division. We are stationed at a decent-sized base in eastern Afghanistan, where my Soldiers and I currently operate a detention facility for enemy combatants. While the job can be pretty monotonous at times, it has an extremely important role in the overall fight.

Becky, I do want to offer my sincerest thanks to your organization, on behalf of my platoon. I've included a photo of our platoon for your company fridge, taken the day we left. I am the one on the far right. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers, and THANK YOU so much for your generosity and care. It has been deeply appreciated and thoroughly unexpected. Having support back home means so much. Thank you again, Packed with Pride, and God bless!

    Sincerely,
    2LT Kevin Sandell

Subject: forever thankful

First i wanted to thank you and everyone who contributes to pack(ed) with
pride. i will tell you that you all made my tour in Iraq much easier to
deal with. i always looked forward to another pack i will forever be
indebted to you.
my unit came back from Iraq in March but and i'm sorry for not getting
back to you sooner is just that we have been real busy getting our
equipment back to the states and now we have to get back to training.
in all my units tour in Iraq was a success,  we captured hundreds of
insurgents or terrorist(s), we also captured the terrorists who fired the
missile which hit the embassy and killed several people and i'm not sure
if you heard of the documentary aired by PBS called Company of Soldiers
well those were soldiers in my unit. but sadly we also lost six Soldiers.
anyway i just wanted to thank you now you have my e-mail address so send
me an e-mail if you like again i'm indebted to you i always looked
forward to your packages.
thanks

Javier

Is our work worth it...??

You be the judge...

"Hello Ms. Mizener, this is Lcpl Carter from the US Marine Corps, I work with Cpl Blough and we just got your package. I wanna say first thank U and everyone that had anything to do with the package. We really do appreciate everything that U back home do to take care of us out here. I think that I can honestly say that ur time and efforts are very appreciated. U would not believe the looks on some of the Marines faces when we opened ur package. I know that sounds a little unbelieveble, but there's nothing out here that reminds us of home. And all the things that was in the package reminded all of us of the things that we missed, all the little things. It does get pretty hard out here sometimes, but as a band of brothers we will make it through. And with the help of Patriots like U back in hte real world, it makes it a little easier out here on all of us. I think that this has boosted the moral of each and everyone of our fellow Marines. We do work long hours and very hard, but in the end to know that we are fighting for yours and my, and even our whole country's freedom, makes it all worth it. Thank You again and God Bless U."

Dearest Ms. Mizener,

It's with deepest and warmest gratitude that we write you to thank you for the wonderful packages.  My name is SGT xxxxx Martinez, and I am also writing on behalf of SGT xxx  Mendoza of Stockton, California.

A few days ago, we both received a great surprise from your organization.

As you know, mail to those of us over here is worth its weight in gold.

Any piece of home is more than welcomed.  We would of written via "snail mail" however we felt that this was the way to go.  I've enclosed a photo of the two of us to put faces to the letter and packages.  You really brightened up our days and again we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Both SGT Mendoza and I are assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division and currently in xxxxx ,Iraq.  It is a subdivision of Baghdad, located in the north eastern part of the city.  We're somewhat isolated out here in the "boon docks", and do without many of the luxuries found in some of the larger installations in Iraq.  We're both Infantrymen, and our duties vary from combat operations to humanitarian aid.  I'm 27 and my counterpart is 23 and both of us see ourselves getting out of the army sometime in 2007.  Hmmm, what else to include?  I guess that should sum it up.  Again, Thank you very much.  You're organization is putting smiles on many faces here in this dismal place.  Keep up the good work.

Yours in Arms,

SGT xxx Martinez, Jr. and SGT xxx  Mendoza

over there and even from home we get letters like this..

"To the Angels that support us, I want to start by saying thank you.

Thank you for all the exceptional work that you all do.

Your support, your commitment to us the soldiers makes us proud to serve...."
